Is your apartment community located in West Texas? If so, we have a special invitation for you!
SHCC, in coordination with the El Paso Housing Authority and Southwest Affordable Housing Management Association, is hosting a Back To Basics Workshop in El Paso, Texas on September 15-16, 2010 and you are invited to attend. This will be a two-part workshop. Day 1 is primarily for site managers responsible for property operations. Day 2 is primarily for owners/agents who prepare budgets. Seating is limited to the first 60 registrants.
Day 1 is designed as an introduction for new property managers, agents, and owners wanting to learn more about the role of SHCC as the Contract Administrator. SHCC staff will provide basic information regarding the Management and Occupancy Review Process, SHCC follow-up on REAC Inspections, HAP Voucher Processing, Special Claims, Addressing Tenant Complaints, and HAP Contract Renewals and Rent Adjustments. While this workshop is not meant to replace the need for formal occupancy training (COS training, etc), it is designed to help someone new to a Project Based Section 8 property better understand SHCC's role in adminstering the Housing Assistance Payments Contract. Day 1 will run from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm with a break for lunch (on your own).
Day 2 is designed as a more in-depth workshop for those individuals who create budgets and may be submitting budget-based rent increases for HUD-subsidized properties. Day 2 will run from 9 am to Noon.
As you complete the registration for this event, please specify in your registration if you will be attending Day 1, Day 2, or both sessions.
If you recently attended our Back to Basics Workshops in Brownsville or Lubbock, you need not attend this workshop. Lastly, please note that SHCC will be traveling in the coming months to provide Back to Basics Workshops in the following locations as well:
